Acrylic on Wood
I have to admit that I hadn't been painting for a couple of months. I felt like I had lost a lot of my drive to create things, and I needed to take a step back to gather my thoughts. In the recent weeks we have seen the creeping spread of isolationism affect policies in our government, and that really set a fire underneath me creatively. Just this week the travel ban was struck down because courts deemed it unlawful. I wanted to make this as part of my efforts to humanize people who come to this country just to escape the warzones that they live in. America is a land of opportunity. It is a melting pot of diversity. If we trace our roots, it is clear that we all came from somewhere else. The hope of coming to this country is all some people have, and to get rid of that is un-American. Even if you don't agree with me, I hope that you find some enjoyment in my work. Thanks!
